An exclusive interview with Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller… What an honour! Thanks to the appearance of The womanizer and his wisecracking aunt we were allowed to interview her for HP/De Tijd at her home in Berlin – the only Dutch interview about her bundle of poetry collages. Standing at her lectern, she shows us how she creates her poetry collages, with cut-out words and pictures from magazines, newspapers and local folders. What started as a form of expression from necessity – using a typewriter was dangerous during the dictatorship, since it could be traced – became a necessary form of expression. An intense meeting with a person who is as gifted as she is damaged.
