The French author David Foenkinos made his worldwide debut with his clever and touching novel La délicatesse. The film adaptation, with Audrey Tautou in the lead role – yes, she of Amélie – seemed to fare even better. We visited Foenkinos in Paris for an interview in the VPRO Gids and a report for Leven in Frankrijk. It was an endearing conversation about the second chance at life that he had received and about the synchronicity between his books and his life. ‘Perhaps I should start writing a novel about an author who meets a beautiful woman who makes a terrific lasagne…’

Some years later, we spoke to him for Livre Magazine about his touching and unique novel Charlotte, about the Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon, who created an incredible masterpiece during her short and fierce life.
